We have turned our lives into a never-ending race and it’s time we start talking openly if we don’t wish to run or if we want to pause. It’s time to take back control and decide if we want to run or savor the journey that life is.
I have a confession to make. I am an average person – personally, professionally and probably in every sense of the word. And it absolutely doesn’t bother me that I am average. I am happy with the life I have and I am grateful for the people I have. But if life is a race, then I am not running for Gold.
Compromising my happiness because I didn’t achieve something before someone is not an acceptable option for me. I don’t wish to promote mediocrity or tell people that “You are perfect the way you are”. We all should strive for better life but not at someone else’s pace.
I am happy just doing things I like or sometimes I like the way things happen. Some of us can reach the stars in the sky, but I am not jealous of them. I am happy to reach for the moon. If I don’t have the wings to fly, I am happy to settle for the green grass for the moment, and to try and fly again tomorrow.
Happiness is a choice. It is a conscious decision that we have to make. I don’t need a fancy car or a big house to be happy. May be that makes someone else happy, and that shouldn’t bother me either.
Similarly, my choices shouldn’t bother you too. Let’s try to create happiness at every opportunity we get. Happiness isn’t planned on a yellow notepad.
You are happy when YOU are happy.
We don’t have to be a saint and quit all worldly pleasures to be happy. The pleasures we want are what we decide. We should give ourselves the freedom to choose them. We should try not to be hard on ourselves about the choices we have made, the mistakes we committed or the pace at which we grow. Remember someone wise once said, “You are all you have”
If you don’t feel okay some days, it’s absolutely fine too. You don’t have to feel great all the time. There is no need to hide it or deny it. There’ll always be someone who won’t like you, or will be talking about you, but why should that stop you from starting a healing conversation with the inner self?
How others live their lives cannot determine the choices we make and the life we live. If you think about it, all of us are similar, because all of us are perfect in our own ways. And each one of us can find our unique path to happiness.
I want to sing like the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think
